The Saab Giraffe AMB consist of a radar sensor that operates at the C-band, and a scalable Command, Control & Communication solution housed in a fully self-contained 20ft ISO-container cabin. A hydraulically operated mast elevates the Antenna to 12 m above ground, providing improved low altitude radar coverage and freedom of deployment. The SAR search pattern generation system is separate from the surveillance system, and likewise, incidents are logged in yet another system, or sometimes even only on paper. Combining these systems and several others in Saab’s CoastControl platform reduces response times, increases effectiveness of staff and assets, as well as significantly reduces administrative tasks, such as report writing. The AN/SPN-50(V)1 radar system, which is one of the U.S. versions of Saab’s Sea Giraffe Agile Multi Beam radar, will function as the primary air traffic control surveillance radar for manned and unmanned aviation aboard the Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and amphibious large decks. Saab Surveillance senaste satsning GlobalEye är ett flygburet övervakningssystem som består av ett stort antal avancerade sensorer, där huvudsensorn är den tio meter långa Erieye ER-radarn som är monterad på ryggen på Bombardiers jetflygplan Global 6000.

Under the contract, the company will upgrade three SINDRE I air surveillance radars by replacing obsolete hardware and updating software.
